Due to a steel plate in his head from an old injury, Gard finds himself partially immune to the ship's effects. He watches in horror as his friend and the entire town descend into madness, their newfound intelligence twisted into a malevolent collective consciousness. The Tommyknockers is a sprawling, often unsettling tale that blends science fiction with King's signature horror, exploring themes of obsession, collective delusion, and the destructive power of unchecked desires, culminating in a chilling struggle for survival against an otherworldly threat.
